Practice confirms that reading fiction occupies a low position in the leisure time of today's children, interest in literature is noticeably decreasing, and children do not have a sustained interest in listening to works of fiction. And another important problem is that children often do not understand the essence of what they read.

Formation of reading skills is the task of primary education, while perception and understanding of text is the task of preschool education. The underestimation of such activities at the stage of preschool education often leads to the fact that a child comes to school who seems to know how to read, but may be lost in reading (does not like to read, cannot explain, interpret, evaluate, correlate with anything In preschool age, adults in the immediate environment introduce the child to the world of reading: parents, educators. Stage I Working with text before reading

The goal is to develop such an important speech mechanism as the ability to guess and predict the content of a text based on the title, illustration, or group of keywords. The main task of an adult is to arouse in the child the desire and motivation to read a fairy tale or story. Children make assumptions about what the text will be about, and the teacher offers to read the text and check the assumptions that have arisen.

II. Working with text while reading. The goal is to perceive and understand the text, to create its reader’s interpretation. Interpretation refers to the interpretation and evaluation of a text. The main task of an adult is to ensure a full perception of the text and understanding of its content (relevant and subtextual information). Slow, expressive reading of the text with stops, sometimes commenting on something, sometimes asking children questions, sometimes inviting them to speculate on something, to guess. The main thing is that the stops do not drag on, do not “get lost”, and do not violate the integrity of the reading and the emotional perception of the text. Their task is to help children “enter” the text. If the stop occurred in the middle of a paragraph or sentence, after the guys’ answers, the beginning must be re-read. A comment is successful only when it enhances the children’s emotional reaction and makes it more vivid. That is why children’s answers should not be detailed; you can answer them briefly from the spot, without looking up from the text. If the children find it difficult, offer them the beginning of the answer, suggest the answer with intonation. A comment should never turn into a conversation! The text is commented in the place where it is really necessary, and not only after the sentence or fragment has been read to the end. Not every question about a text can be called a question to the author. As a rule, questions to the author are of a subtextual nature. The peculiarity of subtext questions is that they are aimed at analyzing the text and can be different: to clarify cause-and-effect and other relationships (Why? Why? How can it be explained?); for justification, argumentation, proof (How can you confirm it? How can you prove it?); evaluative (What is the character of the hero? Did he do the right thing?); − forming children’s attention to the language and artistic features of the text (How do you understand the expression ..? the word ..? Why did the author use this particular word and not another?). The main task of this stage is to teach children to see the author’s questions, direct and hidden, in the text.

III. Working with the text after reading.

The goal is to adjust the reader's interpretation in accordance with the author's meaning. The main task of an adult is to ensure in-depth perception and understanding of the text at the level of conceptual information. Identification of coincidences of initial assumptions with the content and emotional coloring of the text read. Next, read the text repeatedly and express impressions of what you read through different types of activities. These are creative tasks based on any area of ​​children’s reading activity (emotions, imagination, comprehension of content, artistic form). A creative task necessarily presupposes the child’s independence in completing it.
