Memo on staging a play for aspiring directors

Hello, dear schoolchildren and their parents! Warm greetings to mentors and organizers of fun events! On this page I want to present you skits for 4 people, funny, short for school performances.

For convenience, I divided them into categories - for first-graders, fifth-graders and high school students. The scripts are incredible in their originality, filled with modern humor and sparkling jokes. But, most importantly, scenes with deep meaning, they will make you think about eternal human values.

Read funny scenarios with fairy-tale characters with your friends. For first-graders, there is a story about a capricious princess, which will allow the children to look at themselves from the outside. For older students, an oriental fairy tale about the beautiful Jasmine, and teenagers in grades 9-11 will be able to stage an adult skit about the clever Frog Princess.

Stages

Search for a script

The requirements for the script are quite large:

- the plot should be interesting

— the plot must take into account the age category of the actors and audience

- designed for schoolchildren

— the number of roles corresponds to the number of people willing to take part

- suitable duration of the performance

Recruiting actors for a theater troupe

At this stage, the director needs to attract the guys, that is, actually advertise this event. You don’t have much time for this, so you need to understand in advance what exactly can attract you to participate in this activity. If, despite your efforts, there are too few people willing to participate, you need to take action. Use your imagination, think about what would interest you in this case.

Try for example:

1. make a presentation using photographs of the theater festival of past years;

2. agree with the class teacher about a lesson - watching video recordings of fragments of performances that received the Grand Prix;

3. arrange a conversation with high school students who have already taken part in the theater festival, let them share their impressions.

Conducting trainings (based on the OS textbook)

Before rehearsals begin, you need to get to know your actors, evaluate their abilities and interest. Also, given the lack of theatrical experience, you need to teach your troupe the basic rules of acting on stage and prepare it for the upcoming work. For this purpose, the organization “Treasure Island” has already developed trainings, which are described in detail in the textbook on theatrical activities. At this stage, trainings are your chance to interest participants in acting, liberate them, develop creative skills, so you need to conduct trainings in an interesting way. Your personal participation in all training is especially important, so you will be a clear example of the correct approach to completing the task.

Reading the script, assigning roles, talking with actors about their characters

From the very first rehearsals, you need to think about the distribution of roles in your team. To consider all the candidates, during the first readings the roles can be varied between the actors, then, when you have already decided, you need to smoothly move on to reading directly by role. At this stage, relationships with actors can deteriorate due to competition for a certain role between the guys (you need to select roles based not only on the capabilities of each of the actors, but also on their interest, desire, even character). If, despite everything, one of the guys remains dissatisfied with his role, your task is to make him believe that the role is interesting and really worth playing.

Search for songs for the play (music, authors, lyrics, etc.)

Before puzzling older, more experienced students with such tasks, you need to try to maximize the interest and involve the participants in your particular performance in the process. Most likely, they will refuse, but the director’s task is precisely to show that this is actually a very interesting process. To do this, it is possible to organize such activities in a team, so the process will be more fun and faster.

In addition, this stage includes the search for the musical setting of the performance (that music/sounds that will sound as the background of the action or accompany the action itself in accordance with the plot). But, specifically, you need to approach this task with a clear understanding of what your production will be like.

Preparing attributes, etc.

Many attributes will be necessary already at the first rehearsals, since this will help the guys move better on stage (orientate themselves on stage, not fall out of the action). This step is most often performed at the wrong time, which causes time problems. Therefore, you need to complete this task as early as possible, because the actors will be involved in the process faster.

Rehearsing scenes in motion, using attributes

At this moment there is a sharp transition from one stage to another (see point 6), you need to organize the process so that this transition occurs as smoothly and unnoticed as possible for the actors, while not forgetting about the previous point.

For better organization of work, it is always convenient to draw up a schedule and decide which scenes, with which actors and when, will be rehearsed.

Rehearsing scenes without text, the actors gradually learn the words

At this stage, it is important not to delay the process of “learning words”, because during all the remaining rehearsals, this will interfere and distract not only the directors, but also the actors themselves. Since these are, after all, school students who, in addition to the theater festival, have a lot to do, and they, quite rightly, can refer to their workload and fatigue, it is necessary to organize this process during rehearsals. Even if the actor says that he is not ready to play without a text, he must be forced to get out of the situation on his own, because the main thing for him is to grasp the sequence of events, their essence. Therefore, he should try to explain himself in his own words; this method will be more effective for memorizing the text.

Rehearsing crowd scenes, combining scenes into action

It is most convenient to organize rehearsals for small scenes, with a small number of characters, on weekdays. Large, mass scenes and association of small ones, leave for the weekend. At the same time, on weekdays, it is especially convenient to organize your work by drawing up a schedule (see point 7).

Recording songs, choreographing dances

Both of these actions can occur in parallel, but, of course, it is necessary to solve the problem of songwriting (authorship) much earlier (see point 5). After this, you can begin choreographing dances and directly recording songs.

11. Inclusion of dance and vocal elements into scenes, thinking through combinations, rearranging scenery

It is necessary to clearly distribute responsibilities between the participants (who plays in what scenes, who sings what songs, who dances what dances, who carries out what decorations). For convenience, you can create a special list of scenes that will hang behind the scenes so that the guys have the opportunity control the progress of the performance.

Developing ideas for costumes, fabrics, purchasing everything necessary to implement your ideas.

In order for the performance to be vibrant, the attributes and costumes must also have a certain general style. In order for the action to look organic on stage, you need to come up with an interesting solution for the clothes of your characters. All costumes must be united by some common element (fabric, color, texture, style), then the whole performance will look holistic. Only after deciding on an idea can you start purchasing fabrics (then, by this point, you will already be able to calculate how much fabric you will need, how much money you need to purchase, etc.). The same rule must be followed when making decorations.

Creation of costumes, scenery, missing attributes

This point is directly related to the previous one (only after completing the 12th stage can you proceed to the 13th). Maximum involvement of the actors themselves in this process is necessary in order to develop their correct/careful/careful attitude towards costumes, attributes, and scenery. You need to talk with their parents, perhaps among them there will be those interested who can help you, because alone, this process will take a lot of effort and time.

Run-throughs and dress rehearsals (combining all elements into one whole)

In this case, you cannot rely on the fact that “general” means “the very last/final”; the sooner the director begins to combine the entire process into one whole, the better. But this requires time and ready-made material, which will be combined, and for this you must first work hard on all the previous points. The so-called “dress rehearsals” do not necessarily have to take place in the assembly hall (after all, in a small theater festival, besides you, there are many other troupes who want to rehearse there just as much as you), you can conduct rehearsals in the office, the main thing is to create an atmosphere that maximizes close to display (no text, no talking, corrections, etc.). Therefore, the most important thing is to be ready for rehearsal on a real stage; it will be a shame to waste the time given to you for a run-through on organizational issues, formalities and searching for missing attributes or costumes.

Performance screening

Before the show, you need to get the actors in the right mood and try with all your might to rid yourself and your troupe of anxiety. Of course, the director’s task is to make sure that everything is ready: scenery, costumes, actors, music, songs.

Sketch for first grade – Capricious Princess

There is a throne in the center of the hall, and a thoughtful king walks importantly around it. His daughter runs onto the stage in a luxurious dress and with a small crown on her head.

Princess : Dad! I've decided everything!

King : What did you decide, daughter?

Princess : I'm going to work tomorrow.

The king grabs his head: Again you’re at it! We have already discussed this. A king's daughter should not work!

Princess : And I will work. Do you know the first law of princesses? Whatever the daughter wants, dad does, period!

King in a tired voice: Who will you work with?

Princess : I think I’ll go to school, I’ll be a teacher.

The king is surprised: But it’s so difficult!

Princess : What's so difficult? She waved a pointer, read a book to the children, graded them, and she was done!

King : Well, well, let's see. Let's rehearse your first day at work. Guards!

Two guards, accompanied by the song “Where the king goes, it’s a big secret...”, walk around the hall in a circle and stand next to each other.

King : My daughter wants to become a teacher.

The guards look at each other in surprise.

King : She needs practice, so bring your textbooks and notebooks here! (leaves and sits on the throne)

The guards nod and bring a desk with chairs and school supplies from behind the scenes.

Princess takes a textbook: Well, guys, today I will teach you...

The guards look at each other again.

Princess : Here! Tell me what is two plus two?

The first guard is silent and blinks his eyes.

The princess is angry: Don't you know? Bad, deuce!

The guard takes a step back and lowers his head.

Princess : Your turn. What is three plus five? Answer!

The second guard scratches his head and shrugs.

Princess , waving a pointer: How stupid you are! I'll show you how to do it now!

The guards stand at attention, and the girl leafs through the book.

Princess : Here! Seven plus five equals...fourteen!

The king laughs: No, daughter! Correct answer: twelve. How can you be a teacher if you don’t know anything yourself?

The princess puts down her textbook and gets angry: Okay, I’ll be a cook!

The king groans and clutches his heart, the guards run up to him and hold him by the elbows.

Princess angrily: Do you really think that I can’t peel a simple potato, huh?!

King in a weak voice: Where have you ever seen a royal daughter rattle dishes in the kitchen?

The guards fan and seat the monarch on the throne.

Princess : Just think! I can handle any job. I’ll peel the vegetables, cut them, add some water and put them on the fire. Here's your soup.

King : Guards, bring the equipment...

The guards nod and go backstage to the music. From there they return with a saucepan, a ladle and a plate.

Princess : Now I’ll cook it and feed everyone, it will be delicious... (Cooking, fiddling with vegetables).

The guards cautiously pat into the pan.

Princess : Come on, come here, lunch is ready!

The guards run away in fear, the princess chases after them with a plate and spoon, then begins to cry bitterly.

Princess : Why don't they want my soup? (throws the dishes on the floor indignantly)

King : They just want to live, daughter.

Princess , sniffling: I’ll go work as a nurse! I’ll give them pills and give them injections!

King : Hush, daughter, we haven’t had enough accidents yet. You can’t go to work without an education.

The princess wipes away her tears: What about education?

The king sighs: If you want to work, study hard at school, go to university and then you can master any profession.

The princess rejoices and hugs the king: Thank you, daddy! If so, then prepare a carriage for me, the most beautiful dress and shoes, I’ll go to school for a lesson!

The king sighs as the guards come onto the stage and stand in front of the audience.

Guard 1 : You have to achieve everything in life through your own work!

Guard 2 : And in order to work at your favorite job, you need to study well now!

Accompanied by cheerful music, the actors bow to the audience, hold hands and run away from the stage.

Adviсe

Pay maximum attention to the activities of the participants themselves, because this whole process is for them

Let them take part in all stages, both in which their help is required and in which it is not gentle (if they are willing). It's great if they make some adjustments to your overall work. In addition, at each stage, the participants have the opportunity to try on completely different positions; the director can only guide them on the right path.

Do everything in advance

The final result depends on how clearly and correctly the director organizes the process. The way the director began to work will be followed by the entire troupe. Therefore, we must get rid of the desire to put everything off until later. The sooner each stage is completed, the better, the more time will be left for the last, most difficult point.

Create a good team

Naturally, all the work will depend on the relationships between the people with whom you work. Therefore, your partner (if there is more than one director of the play) should be a person with whom you are comfortable. In any case, conflicts must be avoided, both between the guys and between each other. If this cannot be achieved, then you need to take certain measures, for example, you can organize some meetings for your troupe not for work, but for relaxation, for example, visit the theater, such an event will not only be directly related to achieving your goal, but will also unite team.

Sketch for fifth graders – Jasmine’s story in a new way

In the center of the hall, sad Jasmine sits on a mountain of pillows and strokes a stuffed tiger.

Jasmine : Oh, how boring life is for a princess! Sleep, eat, sleep, eat. I walk around the garden, listen to the old sages. And dad also wants to marry me off, imagine, then it will be even worse. In general, they won’t let you out of the palace! (Looks at the tiger) This is not the life I dreamed of, dear Raja.

A gloomy Jafar comes onto the stage with a tray of fruit.

Jafar : Hello, my princess! (Brings her treats)

Jasmine is rude: What do you want, adviser?

Jafar : I came to you to propose marriage…. Will you become my wife?

Jasmine laughs: Why suddenly?

Jafar, confused: Well, because I... am the richest and most insidious wizard! I will throw at your feet all the gold of the world, all its jewels!

Jasmine proudly: I don’t need all the gold in the world, but I want freedom!

Jafar hits the floor with his staff: Oh, right! Then I give you 1 day to think about it. If you don't change your mind, I will turn Agrabah and your palace to ashes! (Laughs evilly and goes backstage)

Jasmine twirls her finger at her temple: I'm completely crazy. Everything promises and threatens. He doesn’t understand that I want to see the world, and not sit within four walls covered in gold. I wish I had a magic carpet now and...

The window swings open and Aladdin looks out in a prince's costume. Jasmine gets scared from surprise and covers herself with pillows. The guy awkwardly stumbles into the room.

Jasmine cautiously: Who are you? What are you doing here? I'll set my tiger on you now! (Takes a plush toy) Raja!

Aladdin : Sorry, princess, for scaring you! I accidentally overheard your conversation... And I can say without deception that I will fulfill all your dreams.

Jasmine incredulously: What are you saying?

Aladdin : Yes, I just have one friend, and he happened to have a magic carpet lying around….

Jasmine : I'll call the guard now, you crazy guy!

Then the Genie flies in through the window and stands between the princess and Aladdin.

Genie : Salaam alaikum, Princess Jasmine, I am that friend, Aladdin doesn't lie!

Jasmine : So, another dreamer?! That's it, I'm calling the guards!

Genie : Listen, I am a genie from the ancient Maghreb, I have magic and sorcery. I can conjure you anything you want. Abracadabra, lumos, nox, aloha, mahora, grandma's nose.

The genie waves his hands, takes out a magic carpet and spreads it on the floor. The stage darkens and Aladdin and Jasmine sit down on the carpet. The song “Arabian Night” plays, and the actors pretend to fly on a magic carpet.

Aladdin , holding the princess by the hand, balances on the stage: Look, Germany is down there. Here is France and its famous tower! Now we will see Rome, and then we will fly over Russia. Look how big and beautiful she is!

Jasmine : Wow, it’s better to see it live than to look at pictures in thick books!

Aladdin : I can even take you to Antarctica. (Takes out warm hats, scarves and puts them on Jasmine) We can fly around the whole world, as you dreamed of! Just become my wife!

Jasmine drooped. The carpet descends and flies back into the palace.

Aladdin : Don't be silent, princess. Tell me, do you agree?

Jasmine : I need to think. I'll give the answer tomorrow.

The guy bows and leaves.

Princess out loud: Jafar is a terrible person. He will ban me from the palace and will govern the state as he pleases. Aladdin is kind, but I cannot marry him, magic is just a deception. And I don't know if he loves me? (Hugs the tiger) What should I do, Raja?

The stage plunges into darkness, the stars light up, and a beautiful oriental melody sounds. A minute later the light turns on again. It’s morning in the palace, Jasmine gets up from the pillows and stretches.

Jafar enters with a casket: Good morning, my princess! I brought you a diamond engagement ring. I hope you made the right choice.

Aladdin and Genie enter next.

Genie : Oh no. There's some big scary cat here. Get out of here!

Jasmine laughs: Jafar, I will not become your wife! The genie is right, go away.

Jafar : If you don't become mine, you won't become anyone's! (Waves his staff) Kotuis motius!

Aladdin covers the princess with himself, the Genie takes out a mirror and points it at Jafar. The spell is reflected and falls on the owner, the light suddenly goes out.

Jafar in the dark: Oh no, damn you!

The darkness dissipates, and instead of the sorcerer there is a large black cat on the stage.

Jasmine pets the cat: Oh, how cute. Let's leave him in the palace, teach him to purr and go to the litter box.

Aladdin takes the girl by the hands: Together?

Jasmine embarrassed: Yes, together. I agree to become your wife.

Aladdin is happy, the Genie applauds: Shall we have a grand wedding?

Jasmine : Oh, Ginny, are you going to live with us all the time?

Aladdin : What's wrong? He's a wizard. And we don’t even know how to cook scrambled eggs...

Jasmine : Nothing, we'll learn. And Genie must be freed!

The two of them take off the bracelets from Genie, he thanks them and hugs them to the beautiful song “Princess” by Babek Mamedrzaev. The genie flies away, and Jasmine and Aladdin hold hands, dance, bow and go backstage. Applause!
