“Health Week” in the middle group of kindergarten
- February 15, 2013
Competition “My Pedagogical Initiative - 2012”
Nomination “Methodological work in preschool educational institutions”
The problem of health and its preservation in modern society is more than acute. The phrases “health-saving technologies” and “formation of a healthy lifestyle” have taken a strong place in conversations with parents and children, in the plans of educational work of teachers of preschool institutions. But the problem still remains relevant.
How should you raise a child so that he understands the importance of health and knows how to treat it with care?
Adults (teachers and parents) need to begin solving this problem from the earliest years of a child’s life, solving it systematically and together.
Janusz Korczak wrote in his observations: “It seems to adults that children do not care about their health... No. Children, just like adults, want to be healthy and strong, but children do not know what to do for this. Explain to them and they will be careful.”
Traditionally, in April, Health Week was held in our kindergarten, dedicated to Health Day (April 7). Health week is a form of active recreation for children when all types of activities are canceled, the daily routine is filled with various games, exercises, entertainment, and the time children spend in the fresh air increases. It is important to carefully plan how to spend each day throughout your health week, taking into account the time of year and weather conditions.
An announcement about the upcoming Health Week was placed in the information corner in advance, inviting parents to take part in some events. Each day of this week had its own name, which revealed the content of the work:
Mondays: April Fool's Day
- Goal: creating an emotional mood, developing children’s creative abilities in an accessible playful way.
Tuesday: “Massage Station for Biologically Active Points”
- Goal: development of cognitive activity.
Wednesday: “Health Day”
- Goal: to develop an interest in one’s own body, well-being, and mood related to health. Satisfy children's need for physical activity.
Thursday: “Day of outdoor games”
- Goal: to provide children with maximum opportunities for organizing outdoor games.
Friday: "Nutrition Day"
- Goal: to clarify children’s knowledge about vitamins, their benefits for human health, and the content of certain vitamins in vegetables and fruits.
In terms of the content of pedagogical work during this period, we try to create optimal conditions for children’s active recreation, increase the volume of physical activity, provide measures to improve health, harden the body, and increase the effectiveness of walking. Due to the cancellation of classes, the time children spend outdoors during the day increases.
The content of the week is not limited to any specific events. Each teacher develops his own work plan, selects the most interesting forms, means and methods of its implementation, in accordance with his experience, creativity, level of preparedness of children, and the conditions of the kindergarten. Given the important role of positive emotions, more attention should be paid to all kinds of fun and entertainment. The forms they take can be different.
Physical activity is strictly observed when organizing and conducting all forms of active recreation in order to prevent mental and physical overload and overwork of the child’s body. For this purpose, an action plan is drawn up and approved, which combines different types of activities. For example, if in the first half of the day there is physical education leisure, the content of which is characterized by great emotional stress, then in the second half of the day, as well as before and after it, we plan games and activities containing less physical and emotional stress (making crafts, looking at illustrations, etc.).
Throughout the Health Week, traditional educational classes are canceled, with the exception of music and physical education, but they are also enriched with a valeological theme, richer game material and conducted in a variety of interesting forms.
In addition to events organized directly by the teacher, during the holidays more attention should be paid to independent forms of children's activities. To stimulate play, art and other types of activities of children, it is necessary to provide a favorable environment: prepare play and visual and practical material in advance, for example, attributes for role-playing games, physical exercises, toys, printed board games, albums, books...
When organizing Health Week in kindergarten, working with parents is of great importance. We place an announcement about the upcoming Health Week in the information corner in advance and invite parents to take part in some events. And, as practice shows, promoting a healthy lifestyle among parents ensures that they try to pay more attention to their health and the health of their children: they engage in physical education with them, participate in sports events, perform basic self-massages, corrective gymnastics, and enroll their children in sports clubs. .
I propose a plan of events for the “health week”, which can be supplemented, shortened, taken as a basis, etc. The main thing is that vacation work with preschoolers is not carried out formally and that the children have a good rest.
